Teach a child the way to go..

Beth Israel Religious School, a supplementary school affiliated with the Conservative Movement and the Baltimore Council on Jewish Education Services, teaches Jewish children the way to go by providing quality Jewish education

A Quality Jewish Education

The Joseph and Corinne Schwartz Religious School of Beth Israel Congregation provides a quality Jewish education and is committed to developing the creativity and potential of each child, along with vigorous and disciplined intellectual growth. The school's goals are to instill in children a positive Jewish identity, a love of Judaism and a desire to live the Jewish life through the study of the Hebrew language, Bible, holidays, prayer, social studies and experiential programs.

Strong Family and Synagogue Orientation

Family educational experiences are an essential aspect of our curriculum, including Shabbat dinners, retreats, family services, study sessions and art projects. Each year students participate in age - appropriate family and synagogue programs.

Modern Conservative Outlook

Beth Israel helps build life - long Judaic skills by combining a modern Conservative Jewish approach with tradition, thus instilling a pride and love for these traditions, as well as an understanding that Judaism is vibrant, creative and relevant to us today.

Kindergarten through Bar/Bat Mitzvah and High School

HebrewBeth Israel Religious School's program begins with Kindergarten (age 5), continues through the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah and on to the High School years (age 17). Children in Kindergarten and First Grade attend once a week on Sunday mornings; those in Second through Seventh Grade have a choice of attending two or three times a week. The two - day program is our Core Curriculum, required of all our students. All Second through Seventh grade students attend on Sunday morning and one afternoon a week. (Families have a choice of Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon.) Beth Israel also offers a third day optional enrichment for students interested in more Judaic study on an Honors level. These students attend one additional afternoon a week, usually on Thursday. Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation is an integral part of the educational program. Post B'nai Mitzvah students continue their studies one evening a week through the High School years.

Jewish Focused Co - Curricular Activities

Beth Israel offers numerous co - curricular activities, including school choir, music and library time, computers, field trips, youth group activities, synagogue participation and community events.

Individualized Tutoring

We at Beth Israel feel strongly about teaching the individual child. Our staff includes tutors and teaching assistants who individualize the curriculum to help ensure that students acquire skills in Hebrew, prayers and Torah study.

Dedicated Faculty

Beth Israel's teachers are certified, trained and experienced in educational techniques and Judaica. We believe our task is a sacred one, as we strive to prepare our students to be knowledgeable and committed Jewish adults.
