Youth Programming. Forging Tomorrow’s Jewish Leaders

Beth Israel’s youth are connected to Jewish life through innovative programs designed to provide a relaxed environment where Jewish ideas and interactions flow. Beginning in second grade and continuing into the college years, there is something for everyone at Beth Israel.

Bonim
Bonim brings 2nd and 3rd graders together. From movie outings and laser tag to programs involving Tikkun Olam, Bonim kids are introduced to Jewish concepts in a fun atmosphere that encourages new friendships and enjoyment.

Machar
Machar’s monthly events for 4th and 5th graders have become legendary. Programs such as the Annual Chocolate Seder draws over 50 children who learn about Passover traditions in a fun, chocolate-filled evening. Machar hosts trips to local amusement venues, sports outings and more, all while teaching the concept of tzedakah and Jewish values.

Kadima
Kadima instills a feeling of fun and community in middle schoolers. Social events, religious experiences and community service projects range from ski outings, amusement park trips and popular spots in downtown Baltimore and beyond. Kadimaniks  also participate in weekend events and overnight trips with other Jewish middle schoolers from the Seaboard Region, which includes Maryland, DC, Virginia and North Carolina.

United Synagogue Youth (USY)

Beth Israel’s USY chapter celebrates a history of being honored as one of the most innovative and successful USY chapters in the country. High school age members participate in a variety of activities each month, including social, community service, sports and more. Most of all, these high school students meet other kids, participate in peer-planned activities and have fun — all while becoming connected to the Jewish community at large.
