Pre-Passover Breakfast and Burning of Hametz

8:00 AM - 10:00 AMBeth Israel and Zoom

Complete the form below to sell your Hametz.

Jewish law ordains that during Passover any trace of hametz—leaven—may not be in the possession of a Jew. The Rabbis, therefore, developed a procedure by which hametz and mixtures of hametz may be sold to a non-Jew for the duration of Pesach, and again become the property of the seller following Pesach. In most cases, the householder authorizes the Rabbi to sell the hametz for him/her and to re-purchase it after the Festival. It is customary to include a donation for Maot Chittim (a charitable gift for the poor) with your request.
By clicking "Submit", I do hereby appoint Rabbi Murray Ezring, the Rabbi of Beth Israel Congregation, 3706 Crondall Lane, Owings Mills, MD 21117, to be my agent for the purpose of selling my hametz. I accept the definition of hametz as set forth in Jewish law and tradition. This hametz will cease to be mine after 10am on Wednesday, April 5, 2022 and will not revert to my ownership until Thursday, April 13, 8:32 pm, when Pesach ends.
