Drawing on resources designed by the Shalom Hartman Institute, the first half of this course challenges participants
to think deeply about the nexus of contemporary Israeli politics and Jewish values. What are the foundations of a values discourse? How do we understand the word “justice?” How do we define the spectrum of views about Israel, and how do we live with competing narratives of peace? How do we characterize current attitudes toward the Land of Israel, both in the modern-day State and beyond its borders?

The second half of this course will be offered in the spring.
